Audi A1 Sportback concept

Audi continues to tease consumers by coming up with small concept cars that have note really went into production stage. But with the increasing popularity of BMW’s MINI and other small cars there is a great possibility that a small car concept from Audi will materialize. For now, the Audi A1 Sportback concept is expected to provide competition to Toyota’s I! and the smart fortwo.

Sporting a hybrid technology, the Audi A1 Sportback concept boasts of a 1.4 TFSI petrol engine combined with a 20kW electric motor that produces 27 horsepower. Using the hybrid mode the A1 can achieve a speed of 62mph in just 7.9 seconds. The A1 will have a fuel consumption of 72.1 mpg and CO2 emission of 92 g/km. This auto is definitely sporty with 18-inch wheels, four-link independent rear suspension, McPherson front suspension and an ESP-controlled front differential lock.

Audi’s A2 may not have made it big in the market but with the Audi A1 Sportback concept’s fun and frugality combination it will definitely leave its competitors in the backseat.
