Audi R8 V10

Two months ago the production version of the Audi R8 Spyder was photographed on the set of Iron Man II being driven by none other than Robert Downey Jr. Finally at the recently held Frankfurt Motor Show the Audi R8 Spyder has been officially unveiled.

The R8 Spyder will only come with a V10 powerplant. The engine will be able to churn out 525 horsepower at 8,000 rpm. Peak torque of 391 pound-feet is achieved at 6,500 rpm. The car can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds while being able to reach 124 mph in just 12.7 seconds. The top speed for the R8 spyder will be 195 mph. Fuel consumption for the six-speed manual version is 15.79 mpg. The R-tronic automated manual gearbox improves this figure to 16.92 mpg.

Even with initial reports suggesting that the R8 would use a targa top roof, the model that appeared at the Frankfurt Motor Show proved otherwise. Instead the V10 powered car will use a conventional soft top. Sales are expected to begin in early 2010. The base price is 156,400 euros. U.S. pricing has not yet been announced.
