Mugen, Honda’s in-house tuner, will give the CR-Z Hybrid cosmetic and aerodynamic treatment. Mugen will install kit such as front aprons, a new front grille with LED daytime running lights, a large roof-mounted wing and side skirts. A rear diffuser forms part of the package.  Although a contradiction in terms for a vehicle intended to be economical, performance-improving parts have yet to be fitted to the powerplant.

Other enhancements include a sport exhaust system, air filters and a sport suspension system. Customers will have a choice of different-looking 17-inch alloy wheels to pick from.

Honda confirms that they will be revising the 2009 Ridgeline. According to Vicki Poponi, Honda’s vice president of product planning, has revealed that Honda indeed has plans of introducing a fully revised version of its unibody pickup for the 2011 model year.

The Honda Ridgeline, which first debuted at the 2004 Detroit Auto Show and later launched as 2006 model year, is the automaker’s first venture into the truck segment. It was originally expected to sell 50,000 units annually, and early on even surpassed that figure. However, in recent years, its sales figures have declined with just 33,875 sold in 20008, and dropped lower with 16,464 in 2009.

Honda has just announced the launch of a new at-home hydrogen fueling station. The station is developed to help speed along the acceptance of hydrogen-powered vehicles. Offering a possible glimpse into the future of zero-emissions motoring, the Honda Solar Hydrogen Station is capable of running off solar and standard grid power.

The new Honda Insight Sports Modulo concept will be debuting this weekend at the 2010 Tokyo Auto Salon. Also to make their debut at the event are the Freed and Life styling studies.

The Honda Insight Sports Modulo concept has been designed with the theme “Exciting Eco” in mind. The hybrid features a bold new front bumper with new and lower grille, diffuser and LED lighting. Toyota was not the only one that introduced a compact concept car at the 10th Auto Expo in New Delhi. Honda also unveiled their New Small Concept car, marking as well their first world premiere in India.

Under the design principle “Man Maximum- Machine Minimum”, the five-seat, three-door concept car was assembled in Japan. It has a large enough cabin space, thanks to its wide platform. The outside boasts Honda’s “Efficient Energetic Exterior” with its shape emphasized by LED lights.

Honda Sued Over “Save the Earth” Trademark Infringement

An environmental group, the Save the Earth Enterprises, sued American Honda Motor Co. and its advertising agency, Rubin Postaer & Co. over the two using the “Save the Earth” trademark of the group without their permission. Save the Earth Enterprises trademarked the slogan “Save the Earth” way back in 1972. The trademark is seen in Honda’s recent advertising campaign for Honda Civic.

The lawsuit seeks to recover Honda’s profits from the recent ad campaign and to stop the company from using the Save the Earth trademark in the future.

Next year, the New Small Concept will be introduced by Honda at the 10th Auto Expo in New Delhi. The petite car, if released, will be competing against the Tata Nano.

We all know that Honda is not totally sold with electric vehicles because Honda’s fuel of choice is hydrogen. Due to the slow development of hydrogen refueling infrastructure, Honda has decided to focus its short term efforts in developing pure electric vehicles.

In an interview with Reuters Honda’s President and CEO, Takanobu Ito said, “I don’t doubt for a second that [hydrogen] fuel cell vehicles are the ultimate green car.” Ito added, “But the infrastructure for hydrogen is moving slowly, and there’s a possibility we won’t be able to get sufficient sales volumes (in California), even if we tried.”

Due to the increasing value of the Japanese Yen, Honda is now mulling over a plan to move the production of the Honda Fit back to the United States. The fuel efficient car is one of Honda’s best sellers in the U. S.

Due to the bad global economy, many car makers are forced to close plants and factories, in Honda’s case the latest victim of the current financial climate is its European design studio. Honda’s European Studio is located just outside of Frankfurt, Germany, and it will close at the end of next month.
