The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has given its highest award to three new vehicles: The Dodge Journey, Lincoln MKT and Mazda3. The three cars earned the Institute’s highest rating in the front, side and rear tests – and all three featured standard stability control.

“Criteria to win are tough because the award is intended to drive continued safety improvements,” the IIHS said in a statement.

Among the three, only Dodge received the IIHS top marks in all categories. The Mazda and the Lincoln only got a handful of “Acceptable” ratings; however, their overall scores were high enough to get the “Top Safety Pick” award.

This is the first time for Mazda to…

The 1936 Lincoln K Model was not an ordinary car but it was made extraordinary when it was customized by a mad genius with the name of Howard Hughes. Hughes was known for building an aviation empire and for his idiosyncrasies which bordered on the OC.  The 1936 Lincoln K Model V12 Limousine will be unveiled at the Aviation Museum and will be auctioned at the Leake Collector Car Auction in Oklahoma.

Howard Hughes considered the 1936 Lincoln K Model V12 Limousine one of his legacies and as proof of that the auto was preserved in a giant hangar with climate control in Southern California in true Hughes fashion. This industrialist, who…

The 2010 Lincoln MKT EcoBoost can be dubbed the grinning car thanks to the large front split waterfall grilles that look like a setoff smiling front teeth. The EcoBoost is Ford’s newest technology to reduce their vehicle’s CO2 emissions and fuel consumption. This is a green vehicle all right but don’t dismiss it as one of those unattractive vehicles for geartheads because it has some surprises under the hood.

The 2010 Lincoln MKT EcoBoost is powered by a 3.5-Liter twin-turbo V6 EcoBoost direct fuel injection engine producing 355 horsepower and a torque of 250 pound-feet. This is a product of over two years of research and development work by Ford from the…

The MKZ was rated “Good” by the IIHS in the rear crash tests, front and side crash tests—requisites prior to qualify and be named to the Top Safety Pick. The criteria also include electronic stability control which the MKZ is proud to have as a standard feature.

IIHS president Adrian Lund said the recognition given to vehicles that pass the requirements help consumers make a choice easily instead of going through multiple test results. This honor makes the price tag of…

George Barris has built only four original Batmobiles in 1966. Imagine how surprised people were when they saw one of these originals right at a car spa in Southern California’s Newport Beach.

Whoever said Batman had a complete underground system must have failed to notice the lack of a car wash right inside his bat cave in Gotham City! What was seen by many was the 1966 Batmobile Dragster which was dubbed as such due to its 427ci Holman and Moody V8 underhood. This car is the same car purportedly built to function as an exhibition model.

Exhibition-stuff this car may be made of completed with a working saw blade that can…
