2010 Mazda6/ Atenza Facelift Details Released

Mazda has announced that the facelifted version of the 2010 Mazda Atenza will immediately begin its sales in Japan. The Mazda Atenza however will appear at the Geneva Motor Show as the 2010 Mazda6.

The engines for the Mazda6/Atenza will include a new, more efficient petrol 2.0 liter DISI1 unit replacing the current 2.0 liter engine. The MZR 1.8- and 2.5-liter petrol engines have also been updated. The MZR-CD 2.2 liter turbo diesel which is capable of 127 to 178 horsepower has modifications to make it more efficient and clean. All the engines options will be offered in Europe; however the MZR 1.8-liter will not be sold n Japan.

Information about the 2011 Mazda5 has been released by Mazda days before its public unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show.

The redesigned Mazda5 features Mazda’s “Nagare Flow” design language, dual-sliding rear doors, and seating for up to seven passengers including the driver.

The Mazda5 is powered with the new 2.0liter DISI1 petrol engine that has been outfitted with an engine start/stop system (called i-stop). With the engine, the Mazda5 will be “one of the most frugal and clean C-MAVs on the market, achieving approximately 15 percent reduction in CO2 emissions compared to the 2.0-liter petrol it replaces.”

North America will be soon seeing another hatchback model. This time, it’s the Mazda2 that will be debuting in the Los Angeles Auto Show next month.

“Bringing the Mazda2 to North America completes the bookend in our lineup…with the seven-passenger crossover CX-9 at one end and the subcompact Mazda2 at the other,” according to Jim O’Sullivan, president and CEO of Mazda North American Operations.

In addition to the Mazda2’s debut, Mazda will also showcase its full 2010 lineup at the LA Auto Show, including the Mazda3, Mazda5, Mazda6, MX-5, RX-8, Cx-7 and CX-9.

Dodge Journey, Lincoln MKT, Mazda3 “Top Safety Picks”

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has given its highest award to three new vehicles: The Dodge Journey, Lincoln MKT and Mazda3. The three cars earned the Institute’s highest rating in the front, side and rear tests – and all three featured standard stability control.

“Criteria to win are tough because the award is intended to drive continued safety improvements,” the IIHS said in a statement.

Among the three, only Dodge received the IIHS top marks in all categories. The Mazda and the Lincoln only got a handful of “Acceptable” ratings; however, their overall scores were high enough to get the “Top Safety Pick” award.

Basically, Mazda6 i is made to replace Mazda 626 manufactured in 2003.  So after years, what can we expect?  This family-oriented sedan surprisingly got a review that it will nearly give a driver the feeling you’ll get from a sports car.

In a road test, Mazda’s 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine draws out 170 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 167 lb-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm.  Of course the V6 model is faster, but the four-cylinder appears to be well-suited to the six-speed transmission’s gears and to the chassis as well.

Mazda has rolled out its CX-7 2010 model but it was a no-show at the Chicago Auto as it is regaling customers at the Canadian International Auto Show 2010 in Toronto, Canada. Of course, the U.S. clients will have their first look of Mazda’s 2010 CX-7 in April at the New York Auto Show.

Reports show that the Mazda CX-7 2010 is fitted with a new 2.5-liter normally-aspirated four-cylinder engine, producing 161 horsepower and showing off its peak twist and turn performance at 161 lb-ft torque.

On March 2009,  Mazda will be coming out with the 2010 Mazda3 which will be available in a four-door sedan and in a five-door hatchback. Mazda wants to peg the market prices of these autos at affordable price levels to suit today’s state of the market.

Without forgoing Mazda’s distinct class and elegance, the new Mazda3 compacts are powered with turbo diesels which economize fuel and sanitize emission.
