Geneva welcomes another hybrid vehicle, and it comes by the name Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid.

Although the 911 GT3 R is a hybrid, it is unable to run solely on electrical power. It uses the system that was developed by the Williams F1 racing team. It’s called the kinetic energy recovery system, or KERS system for short. The hybrid setup uses a flywheel generator and a regenerative braking system to power two electric motors mounted at the front of this rear-engined vehicle. Porsche calls the system Intelligent Performance.

The two electric motors produce up to 120 kW (163 PS / 161 hp) of power in eight-second bursts of electricity provided by…

Porsche is scheduled to debut its 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid concept tomorrow at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Looking a bit like a Carrera GT evolved, the 918 Spyder is powered by both a 500-horsepower V8 and a pair of electric motors producing an additional 218 hp or 160kW. At full gallop, the concept can theoretically reach 62 mph in 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 198 mph. Porsche also claims that it can achieve 78 miles per gallon and emit just 70 grams of CO2 per kilometer.

The 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid concept is a parallel hybrid, meaning that it has two powertrains, gas and electric,  which can…

Porsche has just announced that they will be introducing the entry-level Panamera and Panamera 4 at the Beijing Motor Show on April 23.

Although nearly as identical to the Panamera S, the Panamera is differentiated by a dual exhaust system instead of a four-tailpipe unit, black window treatment, and other minor exterior details.

The Panamera is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 with 300 PS (220 kW / 296 bhp) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. Acceleration from 0-60 mph takes 6.0 seconds in the Panamera and 5.8 seconds in the Panamera 4. One good thing about with the Panamera is that it consumes just 9.3 liters/100 kilometers (30.4 mpg UK) while…

Porsche has developed a new hybrid version of their GT3 model. Built with two electric motors that will work in conjunction with the traditional 4.0 liter 480 horsepower V6, the Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

However, the vehicle will not be carrying the same hybrid concept such as the Toyota Prius does. Porsche engineers at their Weissech R&D center have instead decided to build a system that would have less potential for consumer applications, but instead help to give Porsche a boost in endurance racing. In particular, rumors suggest a full return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans by Porsche,…

With the 2011 Porsche 991 coming all together, the automaker has started stripping the camouflage from the redesigned 911(codenamed 998 or 991).

Wearing production head and tail lights, it’s pretty obvious that new 911 will feature a front end with amber-colored LED turn signals and white LED daytime running lights. The rear appears to also have LED tail lights that look similar to the current 997.5 generation.

In terms of styling, the evolutionary design theme continues to reign supreme. Despite this, the headlights are shapelier, there are Panamera-styled door mirrors, a revised rear windshield wiper, and wider rear wheel haunches. If our eyes aren’t deceiving us, the mule also looks a tad…

We all know that the Porsche Panamera will no longer exist after its first lifecyle, but thanks to Porsche’s new Volkswagen ownership, the controversial sedan will be given a few variations. There were rumors of a coupe version, but it looks like that an open version will be first to be made.

According to reports, Porsche is currently working on a convertible version of the Panamera. But unlike the Panamera sedan, the convertible version will lose two doors in order to add more strength to its body. No word if the convertible Panamera will use a soft or hard top. The conversion to being a convertible will add about $16,000 to…
