You now have a license to start dreaming about the new 2011 Chevy Volt although you will only be able to get your hands on this auto by the end of 2010. This futuristic electric vehicle was first seen during the 2008 Paris Motor Show.
It makes use of a series hybrid system and an electric motor to drive the vehicle. However, when the lithium ion battery pack has been discharged you can rely on the gas engine to generate more electricity. The 2011 Chevy Volt is among the first vehicles in the retail market to feature lithium-ion batteries instead of nickel-metal-hydride.
The 2011 Chevy Volt has a range of 40 miles using the electric power alone and this is already equivalent to the typical person’s daily work commute which means you can save on gas on an ordinary day.
It can however be charged at any AC outlet. This compact five-door sedan, which has four-front seating, boasts of the E-flex powertrain architecture by General Motors which makes it an electric vehicle and a serial hybrid.
