It was only last December that the less camouflaged 2011 Ford Edge has been seen. And even then, it has already been expected to sport the upcoming 2.0 liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine before the next Explorer. And with the car’s nearing debut, it looks like it edged out the Explorer.
The new Edge will be receiving the 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine. The engine can produce up to 230 horsepower and 240 ft. lb. of torque. The 2011 Edge will also be getting a fairly substantial makeover for 2011 – much more than usual for a mid-cycle refresh. Two bars running across the grill are now visible, giving the front fascia a very European Ford style. New projector headlights and a lower fascia that resembles the 2010 Fusion Sport are also noticeable.
In back, the Edge will get new, chrome-ringed taillights. A new bumper is also integrated. The preview photos Ford used to first show off the MyFord interface system gave us a nice sneak-peak of the interior upgrades as well. This means that the next Edge will not only be the first Ford to “go green” with a small EcoBoost engine, but it will also be the first Ford to go high-tech and feature the MyFord interface system.
Aside from the 2011 Edge, the Lincoln MKX may also get the EcoBoost engine. A version of Ford’s 3.5 liter EcoBoost V6 may also likely make its way under the hood of the 2011 Edge and a sport variant of the car.
