Ford will be using a more powerful and fuel efficient engine for the 2011 Ford Mustang. A 3.7 liter 24-valve all-aluminum Duratec engine will be fitted into the 2011 Ford Mustang that can produce 305 horsepower and up to 380 pound feet of torque. That’s 95 horsepower more than the 2010 model’s 210 horsepower 4.0 liter V6 engine.
The engine will be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and short-throw shifter, with a hill-assist automatic transmission also offered. Fuel economy with the manual averages at 18 mpg city and 29 mpg highway. The automatic improved with 30 mpg on the highway.
The chassis springs and damper tuning has also been improved for better handling. Meanwhile a limited-slip differential comes in as standard.
