Although the third-generation Kia Sportage will help its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show, details about the said car have already been officially released after its images from European Union Patent Office were discovered.
Photos of the small SUV show the new model with a completely new front end, redesigned roofline, sculpted side panels, and LED lighting at various points. The vehicle will be built on the same platform as the Hyundai Tucson (ix35), and will be “longer, lower and wider” than the second-generation vehicle, according to a press release.
The new Sportage has been under the design supervision of former Audi designer, Peter Schreyer. Under his guidance, Kia’s newest models have transformed the Kia brand into a credible global player.
“Sportage was the car that really made the breakthrough for Kia in Europe and the all-new version will make people sit up and take notice just as the original did,” said Kia executive Michael Cole. “I am convinced it will begin a remarkable new chapter in the Kia story.”
