The Geneva Motor Show was indeed a venue that showcased the latest electric vehicle models but also wishful thinking concept cars that might make production in the future. One of these impressive concept cars displayed during the Auto Show is the Koenigsegg Quant, a solar-electric model built by Swedish supercar builder Koenigsegg. This is not just wishful auto though because it would see production which would have a range of 300 miles per charging. Charging time would only take less than 20 minutes.
Koenigsegg Quant has partnered with NLV Solar for the use of Pyrite, also known as fool’s gold, and which has tremendous possibilities for use in commercial solar technology. The Pyradian solar cells from NLV will be used to turn the Koenigsegg Quant into a massive solar panel. NLV plans to use the Flow Accumulator Energy Storage or FAES which is an electrochemical energy storage system which can be made into a lithium-ion battery pack albeit a more sophisticated one. The Quant is however a leap into the future that Koenigsegg might have a hard time getting buyers who will experiment with the Quant.
What makes the Quant so attractive is not fool’s gold though but the two gullwing doors which look like an aviator’s door plus the green accents on the wheels.
