Eva Electric Vehicle is Valmets Concept Car Building Showcase

Valmet has unveiled its building showcase at the Geneva Auto Show, the Eva EV concept.

Valmet has usually been behind the scenes player such as Porsche, which they helped manufacture the Porsche Boxster/Cayman and the upcoming Fisker Karma. But now, Valmet introduced the Eva to “illustrate their capabilities in concept car development and complete car engineering.”

According to company president Ilpo Korhonen, “We started the project over a year ago with a market analysis and a concept study. We set a target to create a concept of a new urban electric vehicle for environmentally conscious European and American individuals and families, a car for driving not only for showing.”

The Eva features unique styling, an aluminum space frame, 2+2 seating, and a direct drive motor. The motor allows the Eva to reach a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph) and travel up to 160 km (99 miles) on a single charge.

Valmet’s Eva also features Nokia’s Terminal Mode—a program which allows smartphone features, services and applications to be accessed through the car’s speakers and displays—and a NAVTEQ program which “uses knowledge of the road network to regulate speed and acceleration to maximize range of the vehicle in the most eco-efficient way.”
