Former chairman and managing director of Holden Mark Reuss have been brought to America as president of the GM’s Northe American operations and will be in charge of a new sales division for GM’s North American brands. Meanwhile, the former sales and marketing boss, Susan Docherty, has been demoted as head the marketing division .

Reuss has only been president of North American operations since December, but he has already been given additional responsibilities due to what some speculate was a slow sales month for February.

A few days before the official unveiling, images of Ferrari’s upcoming hybrid model have been leaked. Although Ferrari has not yet released any information, the automaker’s foray in the hybrid market is rumored to utilize an all-wheel system and KERS technology instead of a battery-electric system.

Ferrari first unveiled the Ferrari 599 GTB at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, and since then rumors have often circulated that Ferrari would one day produce a hybrid version of its exotic sports car.

Toyota may be facing some quality issues right now, but that didn’t stop its Lexus division to reportedly push forward with a BMW M5 competitor of its own, as well as a replacement for its aging SC hardtop convertible. Both models should be on the market by mid-decade.

Heico Sportiv collaborates with Volvo to come up with a complete kit for the current C70. The facelift Volvo C70 will be exhibited at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show next week.

“Our program kicks in where Volvo’s leaves off,” says Heico Sportiv General Manager, Holger Hedtke. “It’s characterised by supplementation rather than substitution.”

Abarth is set to show two very sporty cars at the Geneva Motor Show next month. The Abarth Punto Evo and the Abarth 500C are the latest creations from the collaborative effort between Abarth and Fiat.

Based on the Fiat Punto Evo which was introduced in September 2009, the Abarth version completely revamps and changes the car. It is powered by the 1.4 liter Multiair engine that is boosted to 121kW (165 PS / 162 hp). The large Garrett turbo also improves maximum torque to 250Nm (184 lb-ft) at 2250rpm. Director of global battery systems engineering for General Motors Denise Gray has announced at the conference call this afternoon that she is leaving the company to join a California-based battery start-up.

Gray was made director of battery engineering in 2006 with 25 people working with her. In her position, she had overseen all of the testing and development of batteries going into plug and non-plug versions of GM hybrids and extended-range electric vehicles. Gray also worked with battery suppliers to evaluate new cell technologies that may be used in production vehicles in the future. Ahead of its eight world debuts at the Geneva Motor Show, Hyundai releases an image of its i-flow HED-7 hybrid concept. The vehicle is a preview to a new sedan that “redefines the perception of space” for D-segment vehicles. .

The concept will be debuting alongside of the revised version of the i30, the Hyundai i30u. The model will go into mass production just after its Geneva debut.

Lexus has confirmed that its Lf-Ch inspired CT 200h hybrid car will debut in Geneva this coming March. The auto brand’s latest upcoming dedicated hybrid will be aimed primarily at the European small luxury car market.

Although Lexus hasn’t released many details about their new hybrid , they said that it will be the “first and only full hybrid model in the premium compact segment.” The car was first expected to eventually reach North America after Lexus had applied for trademarks on the CT 200h, CT 300h and CT 400h nameplates in the United States and Canada – leading us to believe the car would be coming to the U.S. market.

BMW announces that all their electric cars will be assembled at their Leipzig, Germany facility. Among the EVs is a subcompact, internally referred to as “Megacity”. The vehicle is also planned for release mid-2013 under a different name.

The company chose Leipzig for the existing factory’s flexibility and capability for increased capacity.  Parts will also be built in Wackersdorf and Landshut, with Lithium-ion batteries coming from SB LiMotive, a joint venture between Bosch and Samsung. Carlos Ghosn, Nissan’s president has already confirmed that its Infiniti luxury brand will be offering an all-electric vehicle late last year. However, up until now, few details about the Infiniti EV has been given.

Just recently though Infiniti head Toru Saito has offered some new information about the forthcoming Infiniti electric vehicle. According to Saito, Infiniti’s first electric vehicle will take the form of a small car, likely similar with the Audi A3 and BMW 1-Series. Infiniti sees the compact luxury segment growing rapidly in the coming years, surpassing the current entry-level luxury segment, which includes cars like the Audi A4, BMW 3-Series and even Infiniti’s own G.

In anticipation of its next week debut at the Geneva Motor Show, Nissan has unveiled its updated Pathfinder SUV. The new rugged vehicle is then expected to make its US debut on March at the New York Auto Show.

The European Pathfinder, which mostly shows what the US version would be, features a revised front fascia complete with a new hood, redesigned grille, updated headlights and new bumper. V6-powered models receive new badging as well as side molding. Newly designed 16, 17 and 18-inch wheels are also part of the Pathfinder revision.

BMW refinements specialist Hamann Motorsports will be showing its latest creation at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. The Hamann Tycoon Evo M, which is based on the BMW X6 M, will stand at the tuner’s 200 square meters booth for its world premiere.

Italdesign Giugario and Proton are preparing to unveil their co-developed hybrid five-passenger city car at the Geneva Motor Show. Malaysian automaker, Proton, also solicited the help of Lotus to help develop a very unique series hybrid powertain to power its first hybrid car.

Although Italdesign Giugario and Proton have only released a photo of the five-door variant, a three-door variant is also planned of making it at the motor show. There is even a possibility for other models to be based on the platform – although they may come at a later date.
