Sbarro, a known Swiss performance car and replica builder, has just introduced another new concept at the Geneva Motor Show this year, the Sbarro Autobau.  The new concept vehicle is powered by a 500-horsepower 12-cylinder engine from Ferrari.

With its peculiar design, there’s no doubt that the Autobau is the only car of its kind at Geneva. With its three-pointed front end, it is likened to Speed Racer; it has also been compared to the Cylon Raider from Battlestar Galactica and the Pink Panther-mobile.

Ferrari shocked the whole automotive world at the Geneva Auto Show with its announcement that it wants to offer a hybrid version of all its existing models within the next three to four years. The announcement followed Ferrari’s introduction of its first hybrid model the 599 GTB Fiorano hybrid coupe.

At the announcement Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo said that the auto brand has already begun its move towards offering a complete lineup of hybrid high performance sports cars.

The Mercedes-Benz has just unveiled its F800 Style at the Geneva Motor Show this week. As a research design study, the vehicle could be a preview of the 2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS Class.

Valmet has unveiled its building showcase at the Geneva Auto Show, the Eva EV concept.

Valmet has usually been behind the scenes player such as Porsche, which they helped manufacture the Porsche Boxster/Cayman and the upcoming Fisker Karma. But now, Valmet introduced the Eva to “illustrate their capabilities in concept car development and complete car engineering.”

According to company president Ilpo Korhonen, “We started the project over a year ago with a market analysis and a concept study. We set a target to create a concept of a new urban electric vehicle for environmentally conscious European and American individuals and families, a car for driving not only for showing.”

Geneva welcomes another hybrid vehicle, and it comes by the name Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid.

Although the 911 GT3 R is a hybrid, it is unable to run solely on electrical power. It uses the system that was developed by the Williams F1 racing team. It’s called the kinetic energy recovery system, or KERS system for short. The hybrid setup uses a flywheel generator and a regenerative braking system to power two electric motors mounted at the front of this rear-engined vehicle. Nissan’s Micra has long been popular with European since its late 2002 debut, it was time for a redesign. And now, in all those years and after just one facelift since then, the 2011 Micra, debuts at the Geneva Motor Show. The 2011 Micra also is the first car to ride on Nissan’s all-new V-platform.

Kia’s newest EV concept, the Venga Electric Vehicle, has just been introduced at the Geneva Motor Show.

The concept, which was based on the standard Venga, is powered by an electric motor capable of churning out power of up to 80 kW (109 PS / 107 hp) and 280 Nm (207 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the EV to accelerate from zero to sixty-two miles per hour in 11.8 seconds, before hitting its top speed of 87 miles per hour (140 km/h).

Just behind its new European diesel range, Infiniti has announced a new M35 Hybrid model at the Geneva Motor Show. The M35 Hybrid marks the luxury brand’s first gas-electric offering.

Based on the all-new M sedan, the M35 Hybrid pairs Infiniti’s 3.5L V6 with a compact hybrid drive system. Although Nissan, Infiniti’s parent company, has offered a hybrid in the form of the Altima Hybrid, the system used in the M represents Nissan’s first in-house designed hybrid drive system. Volkswagen has just announced its plans for an expanded use of electric and hybrid technologies beginning with the VW Touareg Hybrid.  The hybrid SUV will be introduced in Geneva, while the company readies a test run of 500 electric versions of the 2011 Volkswagen Golf.

The test fleet will pave the way for Volkswagen’s future, according to VW chairman Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn. “A hybrid version of the Jetta for the US market follows in [August] 2012. Starting in 2013, the E-UP goes into production,” Winterkorn said in a press release.

Mugen, Honda’s in-house tuner, will give the CR-Z Hybrid cosmetic and aerodynamic treatment. Mugen will install kit such as front aprons, a new front grille with LED daytime running lights, a large roof-mounted wing and side skirts. A rear diffuser forms part of the package.  Although a contradiction in terms for a vehicle intended to be economical, performance-improving parts have yet to be fitted to the powerplant.

Porsche is scheduled to debut its 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid concept tomorrow at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Looking a bit like a Carrera GT evolved, the 918 Spyder is powered by both a 500-horsepower V8 and a pair of electric motors producing an additional 218 hp or 160kW. At full gallop, the concept can theoretically reach 62 mph in 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 198 mph. Porsche also claims that it can achieve 78 miles per gallon and emit just 70 grams of CO2 per kilometer.

Former chairman and managing director of Holden Mark Reuss have been brought to America as president of the GM’s Northe American operations and will be in charge of a new sales division for GM’s North American brands. Meanwhile, the former sales and marketing boss, Susan Docherty, has been demoted as head the marketing division .

A few days before the official unveiling, images of Ferrari’s upcoming hybrid model have been leaked. Although Ferrari has not yet released any information, the automaker’s foray in the hybrid market is rumored to utilize an all-wheel system and KERS technology instead of a battery-electric system.
