We all know that the Porsche Panamera will no longer exist after its first lifecyle, but thanks to Porsche’s new Volkswagen ownership, the controversial sedan will be given a few variations. There were rumors of a coupe version, but it looks like that an open version will be first to be made.
According to reports, Porsche is currently working on a convertible version of the Panamera. But unlike the Panamera sedan, the convertible version will lose two doors in order to add more strength to its body. No word if the convertible Panamera will use a soft or hard top. The conversion to being a convertible will add about $16,000 to the Panamera’s price.
“We have a broad range of 14 derivatives of the 911 that are very successful,” Porsche development chief Wolfgang Duerheimer told Automobilwoche. “So it stands to reason we should diversify the lineup for the Panamera as well.”
