If you look at the automotive industry today, you will notice that almost all automakers are in the midst of a product expansion. And one of the carmakers currently planning to expand its product line is the Daimler brand Smart. Smart is mulling over plans of creating a four door model.
According to The Detroit News, Daimler is seriously thinking of adding a four door model to the current line up of Smart. If the plans ever push through, Daimler will not do the project alone, the car maker is currently having talks with Renault about co-developing the new model.
If the partnership moves ahead, look for Renault to get a version of the diminutive four-door.
Smart has already created a four door car before called the ForFour between 2004 and 2006. However, sales for the ForFour were not as good as expected, forcing the company to stop the project.
As of the moment there is no specific date when the new ForFour will be made. It is also reported that Smart is working on a sportier three seat model dubbed the ForThree.
