After the successful debut of the Toyota FT-86 at the Tokyo Motor Show, the Japanese automaker is now deliberating what the nameplate of the production FT-86 will be.
Reports indicate the Toyota may revive the Celica nameplate as it still has a following among Japanese sporstcar fans. Other reports suggest that once the FT-86 hits US, it will then replace the current Scion tC.
Either way, Toyota may after all use both, as Scion is the only youth-oriented brand in the North America and the Japanese automaker will still need another name for its domestic market.
The FT-86 is a rear-wheel-drive 2+2 sports coupe that will feature a 200 horsepower Subaru-sourced engine and six-speed manual transmission.
