The Volkswagen Polo Dragster—tweaked by AME Racing—elicited booming applause, whistles and cheers as it sped through a 9.398 quarter mile at 238 km/h.
The Polo Dragster was fitted with a 1,032 horsepower turbocharged 1.9-liter 16V engine from AME Racing. Mated to a six-speed manual transmission, the engine produces up to 702 ft.lb (950 Nm) of torque. The car accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.3 seconds before reaching its alleged top speed of nearly 300 km/h (186.4 mph).
The feat took place over the summer at the Euro Speedway Lausitz in Schipkau, Germany.
