According to researches, 70 percent of car collision occurs at low speed. Now, the Volvo XC60 with its City Safety System will surely trim that number.
Here’s how the feature works: a laser mounted at the top of the windshield measures the closing rate to the vehicle just ahead. When the system brains detects an imminent collision and senses no action from the driver, it steps on the break so to speak. The system is active up to 19 mph. Volvo also offers more sophisticated accident-avoidance and mitigation systems for higher speeds.
Not only does the XC60 has the City Safety System to boast about. This luxury compact crossover can churn up to 281 horsepower and torque of 295 pound-feet with its turbocharged and intercooled DOHC 24-valve inline-6 engine. That power is enough to accelerate the Volvo XC60 from 0 to 60 mph in 6.8 seconds.
